The Town Hall, built in 1860 by the Duke of Bedford, stands on the east
side of Bedford Square.
On the second Wednesday each October, the square is filled with the
fairground rides and stalls of the annual Tavistock
Goose Fair.

About the middle of this picture is the site of the Abbot's
tomb, uncovered during water company's works during the Summer of 1977.
Tavistock Abbey covered this area from the 10th to the 16th centuries.
Today, the Parish Church stands just out of shot
to the right of this picture.
