European Town Criers' Championship

From Thursday 13 July to Sunday 16 July 2000, Tavistock will host the European Town Criers' Championship. On 17 May, I received the Charter for the Championship from the Chairman of the Town Criers' Guild. This was the last ceremony for which I wore the Mayor's ceremonial robes. I handed over the Mayoralty to my successor, Cllr Mrs Judith Williams, at the Town Council's AGM on Tuesday 23 May.
